Welcome. I’m Rich.
I’ve built a successful career in sales and service, and I’m always striving for greater growth and transformation.
Sales expert.
Business advisor.
Enlightened leader.
Authentic individual.
Summing up a person’s career with a single title is hardly simple… And I'm certainly no exception to the rule.
While I’ve spent most of my professional life mastering one core discipline—sales—I’ve done so as an entrepreneur, engineer, marketer, business owner, leader, and now advisor and investor. Over the past 40 years, I’ve worn many proverbial hats—and I have the stories to prove it.
With a degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Michigan, I’ve long been fascinated by the concept of “potential energy,” particularly how it applies to the human experience. While I never became an electrician, I’ve carried that concept with me throughout my career—both in striving to realize my own potential and in challenging clients, peers, and teams to do the same.
At Capgemini, I served as North America Lead for the Digital Customer Experience Practice and Alliances, as well as Global Offer Leader for Commerce. Since transitioning from Capgemini in 2021, I’ve focused on sales and business consulting, board advisory work, and teaching emotional intelligence. Today, I help leaders scale businesses, build high-performing teams, cultivate strong cultures, and create more fulfilling lives—both professionally and personally.
I put that belief into action at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, then ranked the top business school in the world, where I earned my MBA in finance and marketing.
I tested it again in 2003 when I founded Lyons Consulting Group (LYONSCG). What began as an idea grew into a premier global commerce and eCommerce digital agency. I led the company’s strategy and vision, scaled both revenue and talent, and built a culture that fueled performance—ultimately culminating in a nine-figure acquisition by Capgemini in 2017.
Over the course of my career, I’ve come to believe that everyone is a salesperson in some capacity. As I often say, “Life is sales”—a philosophy I continue to explore through my writing and work. That perspective has also shaped my approach to investing and advising, where I focus on businesses aligned with my experience and interests, and on building relationships grounded in trust and long-term value.
At the same time, I’m deeply committed to giving back, whether through board service or supporting nonprofit organizations. I learned long ago that business—like life—isn’t about you; it’s about service. If I can be of service to you or your organization, I invite you to get in touch.
THE STORY BEHIND MY LOGO
Ohm, Ω, is the unit of electrical resistance and carries multiple meanings in my life. For one, I got my undergrad degree in electrical engineering and have always been deeply interested in the concepts of potential energy and resistance. Like any living or nonliving thing, each one of us holds infinite potential.
Ohm’s Law (V=iR) describes the relationship between voltage, current, and resistance in an electrical circuit, and has been a useful tool for me based on its application to life: How much flow do we want in our life? How can we reduce resistance? Where do we focus our energy, and what do we prioritize? How do we amplify our energy?
We also tend to be our own worst enemy when it comes to realizing that potential, myself included. Ohm is a nod to the internal push-pull I have felt in my life, and the self-limiting beliefs I have had to overcome to achieve success and continuously strive to maximize my own potential.
